New Lenox Girl Scout Bridging Ceremony 2025

This past Monday, May 5th, the New Lenox Girl Scouts had their all unit Bridging Ceremony at Lincoln-Way West High School.

Girl Scout Bridging Ceremony is one of the most symbolic and meaningful milestones in the Girl Scout journey. As someone who’s been involved with Girl Scouts for years, I know these ceremonies are much more than just a cute photo op. They’re a celebration of growth, resilience, and the quiet power of girls becoming leaders.

For those unfamiliar, Bridging is a rite of passage in Girl Scouts. It marks a girl's transition from one level of scouting to the next—from Daisy to Brownie, Brownie to Junior, Junior to Cadette, Cadette to Senior, Senior to Ambassador and Ambassador to Adult. Each level comes with new challenges, new badges, and greater responsibilities. But it’s not just about moving up the ranks; it’s about recognizing a girl's progress—her courage, confidence, and character—as she continues to discover who she is and how she can make a difference in the world.

I’ve seen girls who started as quiet, shy Daisies turn into fearless Ambassadors—planning events and running them with ease, speaking at city council meetings, and launching service organizations before they even graduate high school.

Girl Scouts is dedicated to empowering girls and helping them grow into confident, courageous leaders who make the world a better place. Bridging ceremonies honor that mission. They remind us that leadership is not born overnight; it’s nurtured step by step, hike by hike, project by project. When a girl walks across that bridge, she’s not just changing her uniform. She’s stepping into a new chapter of her journey—stronger, wiser, and more sure of herself.
