New Lenox ID Thief Caught: Cops

A warrant for the woman's arrest was issued on Friday.

NEW LENOX, IL - One of the most revolting crimes that can affect a community is the crime of identity theft. A stranger rips off your identity. He or she then runs up expensive purchases using your good name, to commit their crime. Over the past several months, the village of New Lenox Police Department has investigated numerous complaints involving identity theft crimes. On Monday, the New Lenox Police Department arrested April Gaiter, 35, of Matteson. A Will County judge had issued a bench warrant for her arrest on Friday.

Now that Gaiter is in custody, she is now facing six felony counts of committing identity theft in New Lenox. Her bail was set at $75,000. She needs to come up with $7,500 cash, 10 percent, to get out of detention while she waits her trial. As of Tuesday morning, that has not happened. Gaiter remains in the county jail.
