New Lenox Library Cancels In-Person Programs Until August

NEW LENOX, IL — In a recent update from New Lenox Public Library District, the library announced it has canceled in-person programs until Aug. 1 due to the coronavirus. The library will also not allow study or meeting rooms to be booked by patrons and volunteers won't be used during this time.
In addition, Digital Media Lab appointments at the library will be limited to ensure disinfection of equipment and furniture.
"When the library reopens, we want to dedicate our focus to ensure we are following CDC recommendations for social distancing, disinfection and overall safety of those entering our building," library director Michelle Krooswyk said in the update.

The library is still planning to hold a Summer Learning Challenge, but it will focus on digital programs and online ways to earn prizes. According to the update, prizes will also be modified to support New Lenox businesses and the local economy.

"Although we are saddened that we will miss a few months of our 'normal' programming, the library takes the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously and is taking responsible action to mitigate its effects," Krooswyk said in the update.
