New Lenox Names Next Fire Chief
Longtime fire veteran Adam Riegel has been tapped to fill the role left by the retirement of Steve Engledow.

NEW LENOX, IL -- A longtime veteran of the New Lenox Fire Protection District has been selected to serve as its next fire chief. Deputy Fire Chief Adam Riegel, who has been with the New Lenox department for 14 years and has 18 total years of experience in fire, will be officially appointed to the new role on Monday, June 19 at the next meeting of the New Lenox Board of Trustees.
“I am very excited to be the next Fire Chief of New Lenox,” said Riegel. “I have been with the district for nearly 15 years and have seen the many changes we have gone through to get to where we are today. I am looking forward to working together with the community to provide the best service possible.”
Riegel began his career in fire in 2000 as a volunteer with the Salina Township Fire Protection District. In 2012, he became the fire chief there. He’s been with New Lenox since 2003, when he started here as a firefighter/paramedic. Since then he’s been a lieutenant, battalion chief and fire deputy chief, a role he began serving in 2015.
