Alternative funk band DIZZY! (hereinafter referred to as Dizzy) is starting the new year off with a bang, releasing their debut single, "Mess," on January 17th and their deput EP, "Hot Mess," on Feburary 7th. The sibling duo, Izzy and David Gruner, have crafted a groove-driven track that’s equal parts fun, funky, and unapologetically relatable.

I, Lex Dalseth, began managing Dizzy in October just in time to start the major preparations needed for releasing a project. I have known both Izzy and David for over a year, and seriously wanted to be involved in their career, but I had to wait for when they needed me to jump in. They are both wonderful people to work with and the music is fantastic. It made me open my eyes up to the funk scene more and I am really excited to be apart of their team.

"Mess" is a fiery introduction to Dizzy’s upcoming EP, Hot Mess, set for release on February 7th. The song began with a punchy bass riff from Izzy and quickly evolved into a playful anthem of liberation and self-reflection. Fueled by slick grooves, catchy melodies, and sharp lyrics inspired by a toxic relationship, "Mess" captures the energy and authenticity fans have come to love from Dizzy.

"This song came together in a day," says Izzy. "It’s built around this funky bassline, but it’s also a tongue-in-cheek way of processing a really toxic ex. It’s upbeat, but there’s an edge to it that makes it so fun to perform."

Rooted in the vibrant music scenes of Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Dizzy has made a name for themselves through their dynamic live performances and genre-blurring sound. Influenced by artists like Remi Wolf, Stevie Wonder, and Theo Katzman, the Gruner siblings seamlessly fuse funk, pop, and R&B into a style uniquely their own.
