New Lenox Offers Fall Prevention Classes For Older Adults
The class, "A Matter of Balance," is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults.
NEW LENOX, IL — The New Lenox Safe Communities America Coalition, in partnership with its member organizations, is offering two “A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls” classes March 9 through April 27 and March 18 through May 6.
One of the classes will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Monday at the New Lenox VFW Post 9545, 323 Old Hickory Road, in New Lenox.
The other class will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. every Wednesday at New Lenox Public Library, 120 Veterans Parkway.

The village said the class can help people improve their quality of life and remain independent. “A Matter of Balance” is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. Participants learn to set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and learn simple exercises to increase strength and balance.
