New Lenox Police Accuse Nicholas Benson Of Battering Child
A bench warrant was issued late last week for Nicholas Benson's arrest.

NEW LENOX, IL - An arrest warrant is on file at the Will County Courthouse against a 22-year-old man from Mokena who is accused of harming a child in the village of New Lenox. A criminal complaint submitted on Friday by New Lenox Police Detective Jeff Lindeman accuses defendant Nicholas Benson of a felony offense of aggravated battery to a child, two misdemeanor offenses of battery and one misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property. All four crimes are said to have occurred on December 26 in New Lenox.
The most serious charge, the aggravated battery to a child, accuses Benson of having "caused bodily harm to ... a minor child under the age of 13 years, in that said defendant kicked ... a minor in the head," the complaint states.
The misdemeanor battery charge accuses Benson of pushing the same child down a flight of stairs. Another battery charge accuses Benson of striking a different underage minor "about the head." The criminal damage to property charge accuses him of destroying a woman's blinds inside her residence. "The damage to the property did not exceed $500," the criminal complaint states.

A bench warrant was issued by a Will County judge late last week for Benson's arrest, but he still was not in custody as of Monday night.

Court records indicate Benson that now lives in Mokena at 11952 Duchess Ave.
Last July, Benson spent two days in the Will County Jail after New Lenox Police arrested him on misdemeanor charges of domestic battery. At that time, Benson lived at 621 South Pine in New Lenox. In that case, Benson pleaded guilty in late September and drew 18 months of court supervision, plus about $500 in fines, court records indicate.
