NEW LENOX, IL - This week, the village of New Lenox Police Department did something it had never done before. The department launched its official Facebook page. On Wednesday, New Lenox Police informed its new crop of Facebook fans about an incident that was drawing attention around the village.

A man was wandering around town "said to be dressed in cammo, wearing a ski mask, carrying a back pack and holding a political sign. The individual was located and spoken to by our officers. He is a NL resident, he was unarmed and was exercising his First Amendment Right as he saw fit. We will continue to monitor the situation. We thank you for the phone calls," New Lenox Police posted on Facebook.

The New Lenox Police Department has high hopes for 2018. This week, the department introduced its six newest police officers at the Village Board meeting. The department now stands at 37 sworn officers. The addition of the Facebook page, Deputy Chief of Police Louis Alessandrini told New Lenox Patch should be an overall positive.
