New Lenox to Research Additional Quiet Zones
Trustees OKed spending $15,000 on a feasibility study on areas where trains cannot sound their horns.
New Lenox trustees will look into adding additional quiet zones within village limits.
Trustees recently approved spending $15,000 with Christopher B. Burke Engineering, to conduct a feasibility study on establishing additional quiet zones along Metra’s Rock Island and SouthWest Service lines, Sun-Times Media reports.
The study will detail costs of installing safety measures that would block drivers from getting around lowered gates, as well as other steps.
