New Lenox Teen Completes Eagle Project

Janeliunas wanted to do something for the kids of New Lenox to encourage them to be outside and active.

NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox teen recently completed his Eagle project. Jacob Janeliunas is a recent Lincoln-Way Central graduate and New Lenox resident, and he is a member of Troop 175 in Joliet.

His mother, Erin Bryant, said Janeliunas started as a Cub Scout in Elwood when he was 6. For his Eagle project, Janeliunas wanted to do something for the kids of New Lenox to encourage them to be outside and active.

Bryant said her son decided to make a "gaga ball pit," which is a modern game of dodgeball. The ball pit is located at Wayside Park off of Haines Avenue and Janeliunas completed his project June 1.

He also built two benches for kids to watch the game or wait to play.

"He couldn't have done it without the help of New Lenox Park District, Lowes for their donation of wood and supplies, Rosati's Pizza for a lunch donation, and his troop, friends and family," Bryant said.
