New Lenox Woman Finishes Hamburg Marathon
Melissa Buehler finished the race in Germany months after finishing the Chicago Marathon for the second time.

NEW LENOX, IL - A New Lenox woman has returned to the United States after completing the Haspa Hamburg Marathon. Melissa Buehler began running just a few years back and now has conquered multiple marathons in on multiple continents.
Her son, Erik Buehler, said it all started when she would run with the family dogs in the neighborhood. She signed up for a local 5K and continued competing in 5K, 2K and 8K races in the south suburbs of Chicago before gaining entry in the Chicago Marathon in 2015.
Her time improved at the Chicago Marathon by roughly a half hour from 2015 to 2016, which earned her an invite to Hamburg. Her final Hamburg Marathon time on Sunday, April 23 was 4 hours, 2 minutes and 47 seconds.

Buehler, 45 was invited to the Hamburg Marathon partly because it is a "sister" Marathon of Chicago.
"She likes to run because it keeps her fit," Erik said. "She enjoys the feeling of it, and because she can do it with the dogs."
