Mother to five adoring boys will be remembered for always making sure every baby had a handmade crocheted blanket.

Celeste M. Scola
Celeste M. Scola, age 87, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Celeste was born on April 28, 1938, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (nee Annoreno) Iacobazzi.

Family was everything to Celeste, raising five boys making sure they were always cared for. She found great joy in working for the Children’s Center of Cicero and Berwyn for many years as a Head Start Teacher. Celeste loved to read, cooked up a storm for her family, and had a passion for crocheting, donating countless hats to children with cancer, and making everyone a baby blanket. Celeste was a classy lady, known for her style, loving all her jewelry.
Celeste is survived by her loving husband, Louis ; five sons, Donald (Tina) Scola, Jack (Deb) Scola, Peter Scola, Louie Scola, and Sam Scola; grandchildren, Michael, Anthony, Zachary, Louie, Celeste, Joey, and Louis; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Santino, Nicholas, Camden, and Tyler; brothers, Pete Iacobazzi and John (Bonnie) Iacobazzi; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Marlene Scola; and sister, Esther DiBrito.
Funeral Services for Celeste Scola will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the funeral home chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and also on Monday morning starting at 10:00 a.m.
