New Lenox Fire Protection District crews quickly contained the blaze to the kitchen, received mutual aid from nearby departments, and continue to work with state investigators to determine the cause.

'How Wrong This Decision Is': SWAT Commander Rebuked Call Not To Send Team To New Lenox Barricade (patch.com) — A tense overnight barricade situation in New Lenox's Sky Harbor subdivision has sparked scrutiny of the Will County sheriff's decision not to deploy the SWAT team, even as another tactical unit surrounded the home. Newly released texts show the SWAT commander strongly objected to standing down while an armed man and an 11-year-old remained inside. The suspect is now jailed pending trial, with prosecutors citing prior violence and firearm concerns.
