Phone Scam Victimizes Resident: New Lenox Crime Blotter
Can you believe the crimes some people think of?

NEW LENOX, IL - The village of New Lenox is not immune from crime. Here's a lot at some of the recent criminal activity that kept the New Lenox Police Department busy last week.
MAY 15
The complainant from the 2800 block of Sharon Drive advised that someone obtained their personal information and opened a fraudulent AT&T account using their information.

MAY 16
The officer was dispatched to the NLPD in reference to a deceptive practice report in the 2200 block of Palmer Ranch Drive. The complainant advised that a phone caller represented themselves to be a Social Security agent, then scammed the complainant out of $1,700.

MAY 17
The complainant who lives in the 300 block of Essex Lane advised police that someone gained access to their bank account and made fraudulent deposits, withdrawals, and purchases without their permission.
MAY 19
The officer was dispatched to the 100 block of W. Lincoln Highway in regard to an intoxicated person. The officer met with the complainant who advised that Rocco Legato, 53, of New Lenox, was driving erratically and under the influence of alcohol. The complainant followed and observed Legato swerving in the roadway and eventually striking another vehicle. The officer conducted an investigation and determined Legato to be intoxicated. Legato was charged with DUI/Illegal Transportation of Alcohol/No Proof of Valid Insurance. Legato posted bond and was released. He lives in the 100 block of Pleasant Street.
MAY 20
Officers were dispatched to the Tear Drop Cafe in the 800 block of West Laraway Road for a theft. The complainant advised that plastic chairs were stolen from the rear of the business. The complainant further advised that a company vehicle was entered during the night but nothing appeared missing at the time of the report.
An officer was dispatched for a Deceptive Practice report. The complainant advised that they agreed to purchase an iPhone from a seller they located on-line. The complainant met the offender at Walmart and completed the transaction. The complainant discovered that the iPhone was not new nor was it the model agreed to.
MAY 21
The officer was dispatched to Calistoga Drive for a theft. The complainant advised that batteries were stolen from construction equipment on the construction site. The cost of the batteries is approximately $500.
