PHOTO: Longtime Resident Donates Vintage Machine to Township
James Wirt, of New Lenox, donated a road grader circa 1925 to the township's Road District.
New Lenox Township's is tucked away in an industrial area off Schoolhouse Road, but a shiny new toy could draw some attention.
Longtime resident James Wirt donated an antique road grader that was built circa 1925. After painting it and cleaning it up a bit, township highway commissioner Dennis McPartlin said the grader will sit outside the district office at 12551 W. Harvey Drive.
Road graders are machines featuring long blades that are used to construct flat surfaces for roadways.
