Pit Stop Pyro? Two Fires Flare Up At Pit Stop Bar Building Over Weekend

The two fires are under investigation.

New Lenox firefighters doused a pair of blazes at a vacant Maple Street bar over the weekend.

The first fire at the Pit Stop started around 2 a.m. Saturday and the second was reported about 1:15 a.m. Sunday. No one was injured in either incident, according to the fire protection district.

The village recently acquired the 225 E. Maple St. property as well as surrounding buildings and has plans to redevelop the area. Demolition of the Pit Stop building was scheduled to begin this week, said Mayor Tim Baldermann.
