Seniors Maggie and Kelly Ruane defeated the Fenwick Friar's talented first doubles team, 6-3, 6-6 (7-3) in Oak Park on Monday afternoon, gaining the only win of the match for the lady Celtics. The team's record falls to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in the East Suburban Catholic Conference.
The loss follows a second-place finish on Saturday at the JCA Invitational where Celtic freshman Hannah Davis won the singles title and the Ruane twins took second at doubles, splitting sets with JCA before losing the tie-breaker.
The team will travel to Nazareth Academy on Tuesday. Nazareth has two of the best singles players in Illinois, which means the three doubles teams for Providence will have to win for the team to gain a conference victory.
