NEW LENOX, IL — Providence High School senior Jake Ternik presented the Will County Sheriff's Office with a special gift of a wooden American flag. The sheriff's office said Ternik, who has started a wooden sign business, reached out to the office and offered the generous donation.
Ternik, who has aspirations of becoming a police officer, will go to college for Criminal Justice. The sheriff's office said his business, Ternik Wood Designs, will help pay for his education.
"Sheriff Mike Kelley and the staff at the Sheriff's Office would like to thank Jake for sharing his talent and wonderfully crafted donation and wishes him well in college," the office wrote on Facebook. "Maybe some day he will be back wearing a deputy uniform!"
