Providence's Miles Boykin Propels Irish To Citrus Bowl Win
The former Providence WR caught a 55-yard touchdown to lead Notre Dame over LSU on New Year's Day.

NEW LENOX, IL - Providence Catholic has a reputation for being one of the finest football powerhouses around. On New Year's Day, former Providence Catholic standout Miles Boykin led the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a huge 21-17 victory over the LSU Tigers in the Citrus Bowl. The bowl game took place at CampingWorld Stadium in Orlando and the Tinley Park native garnered all the post-game headlines.
"With Notre Dame losing in the fourth quarter, Notre Dame beat LSU in the Citrus Bowl on New Year's Day thanks this preposterous late touchdown catch by Irish receiver Miles Boykin.This is a catch-of-the-year contender," reported SB Nation.
An Associated Press story published for The Washington Post praised the former Providence Catholic star for "living up to Coach Brian Kelly's expectations." Boykin is a junior on the Fighting Irish.

"Boykin made not only one of the top plays of this bowl season but one of the more memorable catches in Notre Dame bowl history. He made a dynamic one-handed grab and raced down the sideline for a 55-yard touchdown with 1:28 remaining to give the 14th-ranked Fighting Irish a 21-17 victory over No. 16 LSU," The Washington Post reported.
At Providence Catholic as a senior in 2014, Boykin caught 65 passes for 1,035 yards, 19 touchdowns and 15.9-yard per-catch average despite missing three games because of injury, Boykin's Notre Dame player bio notes.

Coming into the Citrus Bowl, Miles Boykin had only made nine catches for 151 yards and one touchdown this season. But none of those stats matter now.
The game line for Monday's Citrus Bowl star shows that Miles Boykin was Notre Dame's top offensive weapon: 3 catches, 102 yards receiving, a 55-yard catch for the touchdown.
And of course, a headline in Sports Illustrated that praised Boykin for making a crazy catch for a touchdown.
