'Rob Ninkovich Day' Planned In New Lenox
The village will honor the recently retired linebacker and Lincoln-Way Central alum with a parade and rally.

NEW LENOX, IL -- The village of New Lenox will honor recently retired professional football player Rob Ninkovich with a parade and rally in the Village Commons.
"Rob Ninkovich Day" in New Lenox will be held on Sunday, Aug. 13 and will begin with a parade, Mayor Tim Baldermann said. Residents of New Lenox and Ninkovich fans everywhere are encouraged to celebrate the career of the linebacker who attended Lincoln-Way Central High School and Purdue University before embarking on an NFL career that included two Super Bowl victories with the New England Patriots.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Aug. 13 and will be followed by a rally at the New Lenox Performing Arts Pavilion Stage. The parade route will be the entire loop of the Village Commons ring road, according to a Facebook post made by the village on Thursday.

Ninkovich announced his retirement from the NFL on Sunday after 11 seasons with the Patriots, New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins. He played in two Super Bowls and was part of the 2016 Super Bowl champion Patriots that pulled off the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history.
