Silver Cross Welcomes First Baby Born In 2022

The first baby, a girl, was born at 1:49 a.m. Jan. 1.

NEW LENOX, IL — New Year's Day is a day of plenty of firsts. One of those notable firsts was the first baby born at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

Mom Sara V. gave birth to a baby girl, Melanie, at 1:49 a.m. Saturday, according to Silver Cross officials. Melanie entered the world weighing 6 pounds 6 ounces and measured 19.5 inches.

Four babies in all were born at Silver Cross New Year's Day, hospital officials said.

The Birthing Center at Silver Cross marked the special occasion by gifting Sara and Melanie a basket of baby goodies.
