Steaks Stolen From New Lenox Jewel: Police Blotter

New Lenox police also investigated a theft at the Walmart that led to a Joliet woman's arrest.

NEW LENOX, IL - Here's a look at the recent incidents around the village of New Lenox. The following police activity was investigated by New Lenox Police between Jan. 2-8.

JAN. 2

Officers responded to the Walgreen's store at 466 Nelson Road regarding a retail theft. "The complainant advised that two subjects stole $50 worth of alcohol from the store. The offenders fled prior to police arrival," police reports state. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m.

JAN. 4

Shortly before 2 p.m., a patrol officer pulled over a car for speeding near Haven Avenue and Vine Street. The driver was Michael J. Olson, 26, of the 700 block of Sunset Lane, in Shorewood. "The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Olson. The officer learned that Olson’s driver’s license was suspended," reports show. "Olson posted bond and was released."

Also that same date:

Around 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Nelson Road for a delayed battery report. "The complainant advised that he was punched in the head and face by a former acquaintance," reports state. "Under review by investigations for assignment or closure."

Around 7:25 p.m., Stephen J. Morris, 59, of the 400 block of Somerset, New Lenox, was stopped for speeding near Haven Avenue and Vine Street. "The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Morris. The officer learned that Morris was driving under the influence of alcohol. Morris posted bond and was released," police reports state.

JAN. 5

Around 2:15 p.m., an officer conducting random registration checks on vehicles in the 500 block of West Lincoln Highway and ultimately determined that the registered owner of one vehicle had a suspended driver's license. "The officer observed the driver of the vehicle matched the provided description of the owner," reports show. The person behind the wheel was Greg Golembiewski, 36, of the 19600 block of South Wolf Road in Mokena, reports state. "The officer confirmed Golembiewski’s driver’s license was suspended. Golembiewski posted bond and was released," reports state.

Unrelated police calls from that same day:

Around 4:45 p.m., officers responded to a retail theft at the Walmart store, 501 East Lincoln Highway. A suspect was in custody, Corey Sallie, 24, of the 600 block of Joliet's Elmwood Ave, reports state. "The complainant advised the offender, Sallie stole $32 worth of food, make-up, and gloves from the store," reports show. "Sallie posted bond and was released."

JAN. 6

Around 10:45 a.m., New Lenox police learned of an identity theft incident in the 7oo block of South Cedar Road. "The complainant advised that an unknown subject(s) obtained their personal information and opened fraudulent lines of credit," reports state. That investigation remains open.

JAN. 8

Around 2 p.m., officers learned of a retail theft at the Jewel store, 2021 E. Laraway Road. "The complainant advised that a subject stole approximately $60 worth of steaks from the store," police reports show. The crime remains under investigation.
