Target Shoplifter Charged With Theft: New Lenox Cops

New Lenox Police published a new edition of their crime blotter on Monday.

NEW LENOX, IL - The following incidents involving criminal activity were investigated last week by the New Lenox Police Department, according to village police reports:

SEPT. 8

Police were dispatched to LA Fitness in reference to a theft. The complainant advised that someone stole their wallet containing credit cards and cash from their unlocked locker while they worked out. That incident occurred at 3:52 p.m. At 4:21 p.m., New Lenox Police were called to LA Fitness in reference to another theft. The complainant advised that someone stole their wallet containing credit cards from their unlocked locker while they worked out.

SEPT. 11

Police were dispatched to Walmart for a deceptive practice. The complainant advised that a male offender purchased $500 worth of electronics using counterfeit money.

A patrol officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation near Washington Street and Cherry Hill Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and net the driver, Eduardo Morales, 47, whose address was listed as the MorningStar Mission in Joliet. The officer learned that Morales had an outstanding warrant out of LaSalle County for Failure to Appear. Morales was transported to the NLPD. Morales posted bond and was released.

SEPT. 12

A patrol officer observed a vehicle with an equipment violation at Lincoln Highway and I-80. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Steve Hood, 27, of Chicago. The officer learned that Hood had a suspended driver’s license. Hood posted bond and was released.

A patrol officer observed a vehicle speeding at Route 6 and Silver Cross Boulevard. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Sean Shannon, 23, of 900 block of Magnolia Avenue in Joliet. The officer learned that Shannon had a suspended driver’s license. Shannon posted bond and was released.

SEPT. 13

Police were dispatched to TCF Bank in reference to a deceptive practice. The complainant advised that a female subject attempted to cash a known fraudulent check at the bank. The transaction was denied and the female left the bank.

Police were dispatched to an Identity Theft complaint. The complainant advised that someone obtained their bank account information and stole money from the account.

Police were sent to Target for a retail theft. The complainant advised that the offender, Kaely Roe, 33, who lives int he 1100 block of North Cedar Road, New Lenox had stolen over $600 of clothes and other merchandise from the store. Roe was transported to the NLPD. Roe was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

SEPT. 15

The officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle stopped in the roadway at Lincoln Highway and Gougar Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Shataun R. Andrews, 22, of Chicago. The officer learned that Andrews was driving under the influence of alcohol. Andrews was transported to the NLPD: Andrews posted bond and was released.

SEPT. 16

A patrol officer observed a vehicle speeding and driving erratically at 2:46 a.m. at Nelson Road and Laraway Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Ruby Zambrano, 38, of Calumet City, IL. The officer learned that Zambrano was intoxicated and had small child in the car with her. Zambrano and the child were transported to the NLPD. The child was turned over to the father at the NLPD and DCFS was notified. Zambrano was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, endangering the life of a child and no proof of valid insurance. Zambrano posted bond and was released.

Police were dispatched to Silver Cross Hospital for a trespassing complaint. The complainant advised that Jeffrey Broadwell, 30, who lives in the 200 block of Jessie Street, Joliet, had become disruptive in a waiting room in the hospital. Broadwell was advised to leave and returned several times after being warned that he was trespassing. Broadwell was transported to the NLPD. Broadwell posted bond and was released.
