Thieves Hit Franklen Equipment: New Lenox Police Blotter
It's time for your weekly look at criminal activity around New Lenox.

NEW LENOX, IL - Here's your look at some of the criminal activity that kept the New Lenox Police Department busy over the past week.
AUG. 28
- Police were dispatched to Franklen Equipment at 2324 East Washington St. in reference to a stolen motor vehicle. The complainant advised that someone forced entry to the property and stole a pick-up truck, trailer, skid steer and other tree removal equipment.
- Police were dispatched to TJ Maxx in reference to a retail theft. The complainant advised that a man stole two pair of women’s shoes valued at $60 from the store. The complainant approached the offender in the vestibule at which time the offender threw the shoes on the floor and fled the scene.

- The officer on patrol observed a vehicle speeding in the 400 block of West Lincoln Highway. The officer conducted a traffic stop and met with the driver, William Mullen, 34, who lives in the 200 block of East Woodlawn, New Lenox. The officer learned that Mullen had a suspended driver’s license. Mullen posted bond and was released.
- An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway to meet with the complainant in reference to a burglary. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle and stole their wallet from the front passenger seat while they were inside a store shopping.

- The officer was dispatched to the area of Schoolhouse Road & Lincoln Highway in reference to a vehicle driving westbound Lincoln Highway in the wrong lane. The officer located the vehicle at Lincoln Highway and Cooper and conducted a traffic stop. The officer met with the driver, Robert Morin, 37, who lives on Bradford Road, Joliet. The officer learned that Morin was driving under the influence of alcohol. Morin was transported to the NLPD. Morin posted bond and was released.
- The officer was dispatched to Cherry Hill School in reference to two suspicious vehicles driving around behind the school. The officer arrived on scene but the vehicles were gone. The officer noticed tire tracks across the soccer fields.
- The officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a retail theft. The complainant advised that the offender, Jalynn Montgomery, 18, of Markham, stole several Apple products from the store totaling $2,558.23. Montgomery was transported to the NLPD. Montgomery was charged with felony retail theft and transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
