Tropical Smoothie Cafe Coming to New Lenox

A new smoothie and sandwich restaurant plans to fill the old Quizno's location that's been empty for about a year in New Lenox.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe, a chain based in Florida, posted a large window sign that said "Coming Soon!" and featured photos of the restaurant's food. The Tropical Smoothie based in Lombard is moving here and will open sometime this spring, according to the Lombard franchise's Facebook page.

The local franchise owner could not be immediately reached. Kevin Bartlett, who owned the Lombard franchise, now works at a location in Chicago and he's no longer associated with this restaurant. But he said the store could open within a month.

That would be welcome news for students who go to school across the street from the restaurant at 1872 Lincoln Hwy. Some students leaving school yesterday were drawn to the sign posted in the window.

According to Tropical Smoothie's website, the menu includes smoothies, sandwiches, wraps, salads and breakfast options.
