Walmart, Police Bust ID Thief: Complaint

New Lenox Police detectives built a case against local resident Raymond Arnold.

NEW LENOX, IL - Police have apprehended a 28-year-old New Lenox man suspected of using a stolen credit card to do some illegal shopping at the Walmart store in New Lenox. Raymond Arnold was captured late last week by Will County Sheriff's deputies on an outstanding bench warrant seeking his felony arrest.

The New Lenox Police Department put together the case that led to Arnold's arrest. According to the Oct. 25 criminal complaint, Arnold used a credit card "without the cardholder's consent .. and the value of all the items obtained or sought exceeded $300 in any six-month period."

The complaint states that Arnold's New Lenox Walmart crime occurred on Oct. 4.

The second charge against Arnold is felony identity theft.

The complaint states the defendant illegally used someone else's Walmart Mastercard to go out and "obtain goods or property, a television, an X-Box One and cash and the value of the goods or property exceeded $300 but did not exceed $2,000."

The third charge against Arnold accuses the New Lenox man of committing retail theft.

That charge indicates Arnold "knowingly took possession of ... a Red Bull drink with the intention of retaining such merchandise or depriving the merchant permanently ..."

Arnold lives in the 800 block of Stonegate Road. A Will County judge set his bail at $20,000. He remains incarcerated as of Nov. 5.
