Wild Hairs

With my whole heart I seek you;   do not let me stray from your commandments. ~ Psalm 119:10

Some mornings, as I prepare to get ready in the morning, I find that I have a few areas of hair that refuse to be curled in the right direction. I keep rolling those areas under, only to find that they flip right back out!  Sometimes it gets down right aggravating!

Areas of our Christian lives can be this way too.  No matter how closely we try to walk with God, we find that "wild hairs" pop up and refuse to be put in their place.  Perhaps these are old habits that are hard to break, just a whim of wanting to let go to child-like abandon, or things that we just really do not want to give up in our lives, but try to "sweep into our stocking cap" so nobody else sees them.  The problem with this is, that no matter who we may hide our "wild hairs" from, God sees them all - even "in our stocking caps."

Just like a lot of hair spray and perseverance may eventually tame the wild hairs seen in the morning mirror, a lot of heart-felt prayer and soul searching can produce the outcome we know God would like to see in our spiritual lives to get rid of our wild hairs we know we should definitely tame into submission.

What "wild hairs" do you have in your life that need taming?  Search your soul and pray to God in sincere earnest to help you bring these things under control.  You will feel at peace once you do!

Prayer

Lord,  We know that, to grow closer to You, we need to "tame" our "wild hairs" in a way that allows us to live our lives reflecting Your love to all those around us.  Help us to no longer desire the things that pull us away from You.  We know we can overcome all things with You beside us.  Amen.
