
Winifred “Winnie” A. Stromberg
Beloved aunt, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Lightways Hospice Home on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the remarkable age of 100.
Survived by her devoted nieces and nephew Kim (Kyle) Bates, Kendall Stromberg, and Kari (Dan) Batka. Cherished by her six great-nieces and nephews Amy Stromberg, Kyle (Liz) Stromberg, Ben (Kristin) Bates, Megan (Gary) Roberts, Adam (Cristy) Stromberg, and Brock (Samantha) Batka. Winnie also leaves behind great-great-nieces and nephews, Madison, Owen, Max and Paige Stromberg, Luke and Nellie Jo Roberts, who were all recipients of her love and wisdom.
Preceded in death by her parents Winfield and Ruth Stromberg, and her brother and sister-in-law Robert H. and Joan Stromberg.

Born in Chicago on August 29, 1923, Winnie graduated from Joliet Township High School in the Class of 1941. She dedicated many years of her life to Manner Insurance Agency, retiring in 1992. Winnie's compassionate spirit led her to become a charter volunteer at Silver Cross Hospital in 1959, where she faithfully served for over 50 years.
A lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Winifred actively contributed to the church through her roles on the Boards of Lay Ministry, Mission Committee and Auditing Committee. She will be remembered for her delectable fudge and toffee candies, and her talents extended to knitting, sewing and quilting, and baking. Winnie found joy in spending time with her family and connecting with friends and relatives through the digital realm of Facebook. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Winifred A. Stromberg will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 412 E. Benton St., on Sunday, January 14th, at 11:30 A.M., with Rev. Rodney A. Juell officiating. Memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran Church will be appreciated. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services.
