13-Year Old Sued by Grandpa for Accident That Killed Grandma
The boy was helping his grandmother get the car into gear when he accidentally killed her earlier this year.

NILES, IL - A Niles man has sued his grandson for negligence in the death of his wife, the boy’s grandmother.
Paul Sang Cho seeks an unknown sum of money from his 13-year-old grandson, who accidentally killed his grandmother in March while placing her minivan in gear in a parking lot, according to a CBS-Chicago report.
Cho’s wife, Kuem Soon Cho, gave the keys to the family’s 2005 Chrysler minivan to the boy on March 26 so he could help her get the vehicle into gear while in a parking lot in the 9200 block of Maryland Street in Niles.

While shifting gears, the boy inadvertently hit the gas pedal instead of the break. His grandmother was walking up to the driver’s side door at the time and was struck.
The lawsuit filed last week in Cook County Circuit Court alleges negligence, stating the grandson carelessly failed to keep the vehicle under control and failed to yield the right of way.
