$161,000 In Fake Viagra Pills Seized: Niles Crime Reports

NILES, IL — The following information comes from the Niles Police Department as a record of police activity. INCIDENTS
BEEF THEFT
Police got a call from Gordon Food Service in the 0-100 block of Golf Mill Center reporting that two people had been caught on video surveillance taking about 15 bags of Italian beef from a display shelf worth more than $290 and leaving without paying.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone broke into a vehicle parked in Assi Plaza lot in the 8900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue and stole $1,500 worth of quarters from the front passenger seat.
FAKE PILLS SEIZED
Niles police assisted the investigations bureau of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office with a probe into the sale of fraudulent prescription drugs. Someone was allegedly offering pills purported to be similar to Viagra on Craiglist. A warrant was executed in the 8500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 23 and investigators found more than 3,000 fake pills worth about $161,000 on the street. The State's Attorney's office has not responded to a request for more details.

SHOPLIFTING
Someone stole about $275 worth of exercise supplements from a display shelf at X-Sport Fitness in the 9200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue between 12:55 a.m. and 1:03 a.m. on Jan. 21, police were told.
PHONE THREAT
A person previously accused of trespassing at the Burger King in the 7100 block of West Dempster Street reportedly called back and asked to speak with a manager around 12:40 p.m. on Jan. 24. After no manager could get the phone, the suspect threatened the life of a Burger King employee. The person called back a short time later, again seeking to speak with the manager. This time, the staffer told the caller they were calling the police.
SHOPLIFTING
Police got a call around 5 p.m on Jan. 25 that someone had stolen about $126 worth of men's clothes from a display shelf at the Walmart in the 5600 block of West Touhy Avenue.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 28-year-old Evanston man was arrested at 12:29 p.m. on Jan. 23 in the 8200 block of Golf Road after he was pulled over for driving while using an electronic device and police learned that his license had been suspended.
Jagr Lopez, 18, of the 6900 block of Hamilton Avenue in Chicago, was seen by Walmart loss prevention picking up a bottle of alcohol worth less than $300, hiding it on his person and leaving the store without paying.
Passia N. Roman, 24, of the 7500 block of North Harlem Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 9:10 p.m. on Jan. 23 in the 8700 block of North Milwaukee Avenue on an active warrant issued by DuPage County after she was pulled over for various traffic offenses.
Igor Cavacu, 22, of the 10500 block of Crown Road, Franklin Park, was arrested at 6:50 p.m. on Jan. 24 in the 7000 block of West Touhy Avenue and charged with domestic battery in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Scott E. Allen, 33, of the 600 block of Arlington Avenue, Des Plaines, was arrested at 1:38 a.m. on Jan. 25 after being pulled over for speeding in the 8200 block of West Dempster Street and determined to be driving under the influence. He was also ticketed for not having working license plate lights.
Tavaris R. Hayden, 33, of the 4000 block of West Monroe Street, Chicago, and Quincy L. Flowers, 30, of the 1900 block of Saint Street, Chicago, were arrested at 8:44 p.m. on Jan. 25 in connection with an investigation into a retail theft of more than $300 at the Walmart in the 5600 block of Touhy Avenue. Both men were located, arrested and charged with felony theft after they were identified during a follow-up investigation.
Joseph Norman, 52, of the 1400 block of Emerson Street, Evanston, was arrested at 7:08 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the Target in the 2000 block of Golf Mill Center Road and charged with possession of a controlled substance, felony theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also had an active arrest warrant issued by the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department. He was seen picking out more than $200 worth of alcohol from the store, hiding it on his person and walking out without paying. After being stopped, he said he was suicidal and needed to be hospitalized. During a search, police found he had about 1 gram of cocaine and a cannabis pipe.
Niketa Patel, 41, of the 9200 block of Kilpatrick Avenue, Skokie, was also arrested at the same Target store at 7:08 p.m. on Jan. 27. Police said staff saw her picking out nearly $424 worth of clothes, jewelry and cosmetic items before hiding them on her person and walking out of the store.
Jorge Rios, 29, of the 5700 block of West Wilson Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 2:38 a.m. on Jan. 28 in the 7900 block of West Church Street and charged with driving under the influence after police pulled him over for running a stop sign.
David Hana, 38, of the 7400 block of Suffield Street, Morton Grove, was arrested at 6:16 a.m. on Jan. 28 and charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 following a traffic stop in the 7800 block of West Oakton Street.
Genadi Chibirko, 44, of the 9000 block of North Gross Point Road, Skokie, was arrested at 10:41 a.m. on Jan. 29 at his home and charged with a hit and run and driving without a license after an investigation into a traffic crash in the 6700 block of Oakton Street.
