2 Gunmen Rob Niles Portillo's Drive-Thru, Run Away: Police
Police said a pair of armed robbers targeted order takers in the outdoor drive-thru lane before fleeing on foot Monday afternoon.

NILES, IL — Police are looking for two armed robbers who targeted the drive-thru lane at the Portillo's in Niles Monday.
Officers were dispatched to the restaurant at 8832 W. Dempster St. shortly after 12:15 p.m. for a report of a robbery, police said.
Two male robbers both brandished guns at two female employees of the restaurant who were taking orders in the drive-thru lane outside, according to Niles police.

Police said two gunmen grabbed the worker's money belts — containing between $600 and $800 combined — before they fled in an unspecified direction.
No detailed descriptions of the drive-thru bandits were immediately available from police Monday afternoon. One of the robbers was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and the other had on a blue hoodie, while both men or boys had slim builds.

Deputy Chief Nick Zakula told Patch via email that not all details are being released immediately to order to preserve the integrity of the investigation.
"Detectives are reviewing video," Zakula said, "and there is some video evidence."
