MORTON GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Morton Grove Police Department as a record of police activity. Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, criminal charges — representing merely accusations by the state — are often dropped or reduced and all persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

On Sept. 25, an employee in the 8200 block of Austin Avenue reported that someone had stolen two of his work checks and cashed them.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE

On Sept. 29, police were told that someone had broken a window on a vacant commercial space in the 7100 block of Dempster Street.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Police were told that a tire was slashed on a car parked in the 7900 block of Luna Avenue on Sept. 17.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On Oct. 2, police were told someone broke a window to a business in the 8200 block of Lehigh Avenue.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On Oct. 3, police were told someone broke a window on a car parked in the 8500 block of Austin Avenue.
BURGLARY
On Oct. 3, a worker at a construction site in the 6400 block of Dempster Street reported that someone stole tools from the site.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Erik Bega, 18, of the 900 block of Crain Street in Skokie, was arrested Sept. 27 in the 4800 block of West Peterson Avenue by the Morton Grove Police Department Investigations Unit and charged with possession and delivery of a controlled substance. Police said Bega had 40 perforated square objects that tested positive for LSD. He faces two felony counts and has been assigned a court date of Oct. 13.
Two juveniles were detained on Oct. 1 and issued citations for trespassing in the 6600 block of Beckwith Road at a home under construction.
Jemone O. Allen, 38, of the 3200 block of Arthington Avenue, Chicago, was arrested on Oct. 2 in the 7300 block of Dempster Street and charged with burglary. Police said he was a suspect in a burglary that took place on Sept. 2 at Planet Fitness and responsible for other burglaries at multiple fitness facilities across the area.
Edward Sowsell, 44, of the 2800 block of N. La Crosse Avenue, Chicago, was arrested on Oct. 3 and charged with driving under the influence after he was stopped for traffic violations in the 6900 block of Dempster Street, failed field sobriety tests and refused to provide a breath sample. He was assigned an Oct. 27 court date.
