72-Year-Old Robbed, Beaten, Left At Golf Course In Only Underwear
The Niles senior had been meeting with clients at a Des Plaines bar before he was abducted by masked men with baseball bats, police said.

NILES, IL — A Niles senior was beaten and robbed before being dumped at a Chicago golf course wearing only his underwear early Saturday, police said. The man had been meeting with clients at a Des Plaines bar earlier that night, where he was showing them items from his jewelry shop around midnight, according to police.
The 72-year-old man told police he had returned to his apartment in the 8100 block of Milwaukee Avenue to find three masked men armed with baseball bats waiting for him near his parking spot.
Police said the three men briefly kidnapped him and stole his keys to his home and business, his jewelry and his clothes before dropping him off at the Edgebrook Golf Course in the 6100 block of Central Avenue.

Chicago police patrolling the golf course noticed the man in his underwear, appearing as though he had been beaten, according to police. Fire department personnel transferred him to the hospital for treatment, where he remained Monday.
The Niles Police Department received word from Chicago's Northwest Side 16th District around 3 a.m. that the man had been robbed in Niles before being found in Chicago.

Police said the incident remains under investigation. The estimated loss was about $12,000 and the man is believed to have been specifically targeted. Anyone with any information about the incident was asked to contact the Niles Police Department at 847-588-6500.
