According to Merriam-Webster. “ATTENTION” is the act of carefully thinking about, listening to, or watching someone or something. This is the first, and probably most important, step for any marketing program. Without a prospect’s attention you will never get a person or organization to become a customer. And, in today’s over communicated society, getting someone’s attention is a real challenge.
Sometimes, being outrageous is the answer. Think about the Aflac duck. A duck has absolutely nothing to do with insurance, but using it in an insurance advertising campaign was outrageous enough to garner lots of attention. Hindsight has proven the concept to be a great idea, but it took a lot of courage for Aflac executives to buy into the concept.
