Let's Get the Facts Straight

Przybylo Answers Charges with Facts

Dear Editor:

I want to comment on reports that our opponents seem to think that issues are either campaign related or village related, but not both.

Was it campaign related when they spent over $100,000 of public money to get themselves on TV?  Of course not, at least according to them.  "There's a public right to know."  Like they claim they do,  I want our village government to be transparent.  But, we could accomplish our goal with streaming web cam broadcasts at a cost of hundreds of dollars, not a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars.  And, not at the same time we're cutting employees and reducing services.

And, they cry for more accountability.  Only one candidate in this race has a plan to make ALL village employees accountable.  ME!  How do they react when I suggest that we implement a system similar to the one now successfully being used by Cook County?  They take a serious plan which is proven to work, and dismiss it as campaigning.  The irresponsible ones can't have it both ways.  They cannot dismiss the one plan that has been advocated, not have a plan of their own, and say they want accountability.

I also find it fascinating that Mr. Hynes makes all kinds of unfounded ethics/conflict charges about things that he (incorrectly) guesses might have happened in the early 1990's.  He's Chair of the Ethics Board.  Talk about conflict of interest.  Wow!

C'Mon guys!  Let's deal with the issues that face Niles, rather than empty words. half-truths, and downright distortions.
