Chef Readies For Morton Grove Oktoberfest
At St. Martha's Oktoberfest Friday, a Culinary Institute of America-trained chef will prepare schnitzel, sauerbraten and other German specialties.

St. Martha's Church in Morton Grove is rolling out gemultlichkeit on a grand scale at its Oktoberfest Saturday.
The event is being catered by Culinary Creations and Chef Nicholas Ronczka, a professional chef with a pedigree from the Culinary Institute of America, said John Herbert, the parish's business manager.

The food will be made fresh on the premises, and the menu includes sauerbraten, chicken schnitzel, spaetzel, German potato salad, sauerkraut, red cabbage, white bratwurst and a variety of German breads.

If you can find a way to work in dessert among the beer and brats, the offerings will include apple strudel, pumpkin slices and other Teutonic temptations.
The fest will be serving Oktoberfest beer, regular light beer and pop, including a micro-brewed root beer from Milwaukee.
Frank K & Company will provide German music for dancing, and the Society of Danube Swabians will perform folk dancing.
A split-the-pot raffle will be held, with the winner to be drawn at 9 p.m.
Herren, wear lederhosen if you have them, and damen, put on your best dirndl skirts.
