The Notre Dame College Prep students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents honored all First Responders at Mass on September 11, 2013. The Mass was celebrated outside at the school's Grotto by Rev. Richard Conyers, CSC who is a teacher and Chairman of the Fine Arts Department.
First responders from area suburban and Chicago police and fire departments were in attendance. Morton Grove Mayor Dan DiMaria, a 1985 alumnus of the school, was also there. In all about 1,000 people attended.
At the conclusion of the Mass, all of the police offers received St. Michael medals and all the fire fighters received St. Florian medals. St. Michael is the patron of all police officers and St. Florian is the patron of all fire fighters.
