'Erratic' Driver Crashes, Charged Over Drugs: Morton Grove Crimes

MORTON GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Morton Grove Police Department as a record of police activity. On Aug. 24, a resident in the 6000 block of Dempster Street reported that two fraudulent checks had been written with company checks.

BURGLARY, DRUGS

Christopher Stachon-Groblowy, 23, of the 8100 block of Harlem Avenue in Niles, was arrested Aug. 24 in the 9000 block of Belleforte Avenue. A resident told police he heard a noise by his garage and saw Stachon-Goblowy standing outside nearby. When the resident confronted him, he ran. Police soon found the Stachon-Goblowy with various items of property he had seemingly stole from vehicles in the neighborhood. He was arrested and charged with three counts of car burglary, one count of felony theft, one count of possesion of a controlled substance, four counts of criminal trespass to vehicle and one count of criminal trespassing to property. He was also issued local ordinance citations for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

KNIFE THEFT

Tran Van Van, 66, of the 5900 block of North Marmora Avenue in Chicago, was issued a Morton Grove local ordinance citation for retail theft after allegedly passing the last point of sale at the Menards in the 6300 block of Oakton Street on Aug. 25.

SPEEDING

A 37-year-old Chicago man was arrested Aug. 26 in the 5600 block of Dempster Street and charged with speeding after police said he was driving 70 mph in an 35 mph zone.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested Aug. 27 near the intersection of Central and Church streets and charged with driving on a suspended license. Police said he was involved in traffic crash before they learned his license had been suspended.

INTENT TO DEAL DRUGS

William D. Barkho, 31, of the 8000 block of West Lyons Street in Niles, was arrested Aug. 29 at Advocate General Hospital in Park Ridge and charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. An officer was told the man had been driving erratically. Police located his vehicle, but Barkho crashed into a parked car before police caught up to him and arrested him. He was assigned an Oct. 3 court date.
