Artist's Reception and Booktalk: Walking in Broken Shoes

6:30 pm: Artist's Reception: Meet Sandy Sheagren, an artist who has painted portraits of the people and scenery of Haiti. Her artwork will be on display in the Baxter Room though the month of October. She will discuss her paintings prior to Sue Walsh's talk about her book, Walking in Broken Shoes.

7:00 pm: Book talk: Sue Walsh, a pediatric nurse practitioner, was working at a clinic in Haiti when the 2010 earthquake destroyed much of the island. Ms. Walsh has published a book about her experiences providing health care to the residents of Haiti and the aftermath of the earthquake. She will show pictures of Haiti and discuss the geography, culture, economy, and health problems and efforts to provide services and care. Book signing to follow the presentation.
