Batik Class

Evidence of early examples of batik have been found in the Far East, Middle East, Central Asia and India from over 2,000 years ago. Batik applications include wearable art, interior treatments, wall hangings and has become widely popular within the quilting community. Batik is done by applying hot wax over fabric, masking off selected areas of the cloth. The cloth is then dyed. The parts covered in wax will resist the dye and remain the original fabric color. This process of waxing and dyeing can be repeated with many colors to create elaborate and colorful designs.
