Free screenings, kids' activities at annual Family Fun and Safety Fair on Sunday, September 14

Free health screenings for adults and activities for children will be offered at the Family Fun and Safety Fair on Sunday, September 14 from noon to 4 p.m. at Presence Saint Francis Hospital, 355 Ridge Avenue in Evanston. The fair celebrates the hospital’s 40 years as an EMS system and 25 years as a Level 1 Trauma Center.

The first 100 children in attendance will receive a lunch cooler bag filled with school supplies. Free bike helmets will be given away while supplies last. Car seat safety checks will be offered by the Evanston Police Department and the Illinois Secretary of State’s office from noon to 4 p.m. The police department will also have first responders on hand along with the Evanston Fire Department, the Lincolnwood Fire Department, Superior Ambulance and the Presence Health HAZMAT team to provide tours of the Evanston Fire Department Fire Safety House, a fire truck, an ambulance and the Presence Health HAZMAT trailer. There will be a special appearance by BIFF the Big Inflatable Firefighter, courtesy of the Winnetka Fire Department.

Screenings for adults include blood pressure, glucose and body mass index (BMI). Zumba exercise class demonstrations will take place between noon and 2 p.m. The fair also will feature an inflatable slide, a trackless train ride, kids’ games, balloon art, magicians and a raffle.
