Jeannine Como shares her Vision for Morton Grove as a Candidate for Village Trustee
A vision for Morton Grove where all our residents can live, work, and play, and families, seniors, businesses and organizations can thrive.

Jeannine Como is running in the April 4, 2017 election as an independent candidate for Village Trustee. She and four other independent candidates believe bringing back a solid economic foundation, attracting sustainable businesses, and high ethical standards are among the top priorities. Jeannine shares her vision for Morton Grove and why she is a candidate for Village Trustee.
"My vision for Morton Grove is one of a community where all our residents can live, work, and play. It is one where families, seniors, businesses, and community organizations are all able to thrive.
"My husband Gary and I moved to Morton Grove 28 years ago, and raised our two children here. When we moved here, our immediate neighborhood was overwhelmingly retired folks and seniors. I want Morton Grove to be a place where our seniors can remain in their homes without fear of escalating costs or diminished resources forcing them out. Our seniors are the backbone of our community and their needs must be heard and met.

"I am committed to see Morton Grove remain a place where families can grow. Over the years, my family and I participated in the park district programs and library activities. We took part in community activities such as the Fourth of July pancake breakfast and parade. This past winter, I was proud to be a part of the Holly Days committee, in which we created a family-friendly, inclusive event for the entire community. This event brought our diverse community together for a weekend of celebration. Morton Grove was once rated one of the best places to raise a family. I will work to make this community earn that rating once again.
"As past President of the Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce and its current Treasurer, I know the struggles of our small businesses. A struggle not only to start a business but to keep it viable in our commercial corridors. Communication is the key and something that is currently lacking. Electronic communication and social media have become a way we do business, but I believe nothing is more important than knocking on a business owner’s door and asking “how can we help?”

"My vision and why I am running is to ensure that Morton Grove is a place where families can grow, our businesses can prosper, and our seniors feel secure and happy in their homes. With a village board that acts responsibly, with integrity, and is accountable to its residents, this vision can be a reality."
