Morton Grove Public Library to Remain Open During Roof Repairs

The Morton Grove Public Library’s Youth Services Department will remain open, and most Adult Department services will remain available, during the upcoming roof construction project. Due to unexpected complications to planned roof repairs, we will be closing much of the main floor of the Library beginning in late September and continuing into November. The entire Youth Services department will be open throughout the project, and most Youth Services programming will not be affected; however, many adult programs for October and November have been cancelled. Check the Library’s website, www.mgpl.org, to see if a specific program has been cancelled, relocated, or rescheduled. Public computers, electronic resources and reference assistance will be relocated to the Cooperman Board Room in order to continue to provide these public services.

Beginning September 11, 3-week books will have due dates in December, so stock up on books soon to stay informed and entertained for the next couple of months! Adult and teen new books and other materials, such as DVDs, CDs and audiobooks, in addition to all children’s materials, will continue to have their normal loan periods prior to the closure. The outdoor book and DVD returns will remain open. The Morton Grove Public Library has a plethora of electronic and downloadable resources that will continue to be available through the website. Those needing computers, fax service and scanners will find these available in the Cooperman Board Room, and one-on-one computer appointments with reference librarians will also be available.

We will be combining major roof reconstruction with internal asbestos abatement performed by licensed, certified contractors; the abatement area will be completely sealed off from the rest of the library, providing a completely safe environment for patrons and staff.
