Motorist Charged With DUI After Accident: Morton Grove Crime Reports

MORTON GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Morton Grove Police Department as a record of police activity. Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, criminal charges — representing merely accusations by the state — are often dropped or reduced and all persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

THEFT OF CAR PARTS

On Sept. 10, a resident in the 7900 block of Davis reported that someone stole a catalytic converter from his vehicle.

THEFT

On Sept. 10, a resident in the 9000 block of Mason reported that someone stole two pieces of mail.

THEFT

On Sept. 17, a resident outside the Dollar Tree in the 6900 block of Dempster reported that someone stole her bike off a car rack. The bike was recovered by the investigating officer a block away.

CAR BURGLARY

On Sept. 18, a resident reported leaving a vehicle unlocked, which someone entered and stole multiple items from at an undisclosed location.

ARRESTS

WARRANT

Peter E. Keller, 40, of the 900 block of Maple Avenue in Evanston, was arrested Sept. 3 by Evanston police on a Morton Grove warrant in connection with a charge of criminal damage related to a 2014 incident.

DUI

James Cochrane, 28, of the 1300 block of North Vail in Arlington Heights, was arrested Sept. 12 and charged with driving under the influence after he was involved in a traffic crash near the intersection of Golf and Central.

SPEEDING

A 23-year-old Des Plaines man was arrested Sept. 16 in the 6700 block of Birch and charged with misdemeanor speeding after police said he was driving 73 mph in a 35 mph zone.

TELEPHONE HARASSMENT

Montrell Blaylock, 33, of the 7600 block of Rogers in Chicago, was arrested Sept. 17 at Oriole Park on a warrant and charged with harassment by telephone.
