Niles Power Outage: Power Line Falls On Car
The Niles Family Fitness Center and Police Department are open as warming centers.

NILES, IL — Crews are on the scene to repair a transformer and power line that got tangled up with a motorist in in Niles early Wednesday. Police said a vehicle was driving westbound on Oakton Street shortly before 4 a.m. when a power line fell on top of it near Harlem Avenue.
The line got entangled in the vehicle, pulling the power line away from the pull and causing damage to a nearby transformer, according to Niles police.
Police said a "cursory inspection of power poles in the area" showed no sign that they had been hit by a car.
