Niles Chamber of Commerce Scholarships Offer $1,000 Per Year To College Students

High school seniors who are Niles residents or employees or children of employees at the Niles Chamber of Commerce are eligible.

NILES, IL — The Niles Chamber of Commerce is awarding two $4,000 college scholarships (four years of $1,000 per year) for graduating high school seniors who begin college in the fall of 2017. It's a program of the Chamber's nonprofit foundation called "Dollars for Scholars," whose members donate their time to raise money for local students in need of financial aid for secondary and post-secondary education, according to the Chamber. Since 2002, the program has awarded over $135,000 in scholarships to area students, according to the group.

Applications for 2017 scholarships are open until Feb. 28. Applicants must be a senior in high school as well as a Niles resident or an employee or child of an employee at a business that is currently a member of the Niles Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Students wishing to apply must also complete an essay question asking what political, social or environmental issue has the greatest impact on them and how they would solve it.
