North Shore Obituary: Maureen (nee McGreevy) Malone

Maureen (nee McGreevy) Malone, age 82 of Morton Grove, IL (formerly Glenview and Wilmette), died May 31, 2015. Maureen was beloved mother of a thriving family scattered across the globe; from Chicago area, to Massachusetts and Maryland, Washington state and Ethiopia.

Loving mother to Dr. Joseph Malone and wife Lee; Margaret (“Peggy”) Anne Malone; Maureen (nee Malone) Kelly; Patricia (nee Malone) Aalbregtse; Kathleen (nee Malone) Leone and husband Paul; Mary (nee Malone) Johnson and husband Joseph; Thomas Malone; John Malone and wife Gerardine Brennan and her late sons in law: Michael Kelly and Kevin Aalbregtse.

Devoted sister to Walter J. McGreevy and the late Inez (nee McGreevy) Stahura. Sister-in-Law to Margaret (nee Malone) Fisher, and the late Frank Fisher, Ginger McGreevy, and Andrew Stahura.

Maureen was Blessed with eighteen grandchildren: Joseph IV, Andrew and Alice Malone, Eileen and Moira Kelly, Fawn, Heather, Shannan and Naomi Aalbregtse, Mary Claire, KellyAnne, and Thomas Leone, Sarah (Sr. Mary St. Joseph of the Incarnate Word), Amy, Christopher and Margaret Johnson; Reilly and Erin Malone.

Maureen was a loving and supportive Aunt to many nieces and nephews and a loyal and committed friend of many in the communities she lived and raised her family.

Maureen was a devoted and active member of the SS. Faith, Hope & Charity Parish and Misericordia Heart of Mercy. She loved the outdoors, tennis, gardening and bird watching, and frequently walked in the forest preserve and Chicago Botanical Gardens.

Visitation Saturday, June 6, 2015, 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. at Saints Faith, Hope & Charity Church, 191 Linden Street, Winnetka, IL 60093. Interment at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles, IL to follow.

Maureen’ s family invites friends and family to join in celebrating her life at a luncheon held at Glenview House, 1843 Glenview Road, Glenview, IL approx. 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Maureen asks that memorials be made in her honor to Misericordia Home, 6300 N. Ridge Road, Chicago, IL 60660 and to note Misericordia Family Reference Number “Parent Code 3480” on donations.
