Pickleball Proves Popular New Sport at Golf Maine Park District
The March introductory promotion concluded with a drawing for great prizes. Come any Wednesday to play.

Pickleball at the Golf Maine Park District’s (GMPD) Feldman Center proved it's just what the public wanted. A capacity group gathered March 29 on the final day of a month-long promotional period designed to introduce the popular sport to the district. Every Wednesday during March the daily fee of $5 was waived for those playing Pickleball. Play will continue each Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon with the daily fee reinstated starting April 5.
The promotion ended with a drawing from entries received by those who attended during March. The grand prize of a new, professional-style racquet was won by Sue Hall of Park Ridge. Other prizes included music lessons, Oberwiess certificates, golf lessons and restaurant gift cards.
Executive Director John Jekot, center holding the bowl, announced that the new tennis courts at Dee Park will be striped to also allow for Pickleball. Those courts will be available by this summer.
