Police Release Video Of Suspect Vehicle In Fatal Hit-And-Run
The video shows the car that struck and killed an 86-year-old Morton Grove man as he crossed Shermer Road last month, according to police.
MORTON GROVE, IL — Police released video of a car they said was involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident last month. The eight-second clip posted to social media Thursday includes several frames showing a light-colored four-door sedan.
Leo Belogur, 86, died from injuries suffered when he was struck by the car around 5 p.m. on Jan. 4 as he crossed Shermer Road at Greenwood Street, police said. The car did not stop. Police said it had a damaged windshield as well as possible front-end damage as it fled southbound.
Belogur, who lived near the site of the crash, immigrated from Eastern Europe in the late 1980s and had seven grandchildren, according to his family, which has offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver.

"We are still in total shock and disbelief that someone could kill an innocent person by striking him with their vehicle and leaving him dead in the street," the Belogur family said in a statement. "We are certain that someone out there must have some information that can help us get justice for our father."
Morton Grove police previously released a still image from the surveillance video, which has been enhanced by the FBI and private law enforcement partners.
