Regina Dominican WYSE Team Advances to State

Regina Dominican earned a first place finish at the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering Sectional tournament.

Regina Dominican earned a first place finish at the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering Sectional tournament and will advance to the State finals on April 16.

14 students were selected by Regina Dominican coaches to represent the school at the Sectional competition. Each student competed in two subjects including Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Physics.

In the individual competition, Regina Dominican swept the podium in Biology, Chemistry, English and Physics, taking first, second and third in all four events.

In Biology, Michelle Delana of Chicago took first, Syeda Fatima of Morton Grove and Su Hee Jeong of Evanston took second, and Elizabeth Hancuch of WIlmette of took third. In Chemistry, Delana took first, Yujin Lee of Wilmette took second, and Mary Berg of Skokie took third. In English, Berg earned a first place finish followed by Clare Broderick of Chicago in second and Hancuch in third. In Math, Jeong and Siyuan Xu of Evanston tied for second and Annie Doh of Buffalo Grove followed with a close third place finish. Finally, in Physics, Lee placed first, Isabel Laurie of Glenview and Xu tied for second, and Reem Darwish of Lincolnwood place third.
